We started with the farms we grew up near
GDC Foundation was founded in 2024 by three friends who kept seeing the same thing at home. Farmers had heard about climate change and were living with its effects, but few had the help they needed to understand it and act on it.
Vision
A prosperous Africa, built on inclusive growth and sustainable development
Mission
To help communities take practical action in step with nature, and restore a fair balance between people and the land they live from.
That means helping communities understand the climate risks they face, which are not the same for everyone, and bringing investment to the work of building resilience.
What we hold to
Dignity first
Every person and community has the right to live in dignity, and to lead the decisions that affect them.
Accountable to nature
We use natural resources in ways we can answer for, now and for the next generation.
People as stewards
Communities are the keepers of their land, not bystanders to its management.
Food, water and energy together
A decision about one is always a decision about the other two.
Ready before the disaster
Reducing risk costs less, in money and in lives, than recovering from loss.
Founders
Three friends, three home communities, one worry
