Four things we work on, all connected
We look for practical, science-based ways for nature to do more of the work, and we bring them to the communities that need them most.

Food, water and energy
Farming families make one set of choices about all three. Water used for irrigation isn’t there for the household. Wood gathered for cooking leaves the soil bare. We help communities plan them together, so a gain in one doesn’t become a loss in another.

Disaster risk reduction
Drought and flood are no longer rare. Preparing for them, with terraces, water harvesting, early warnings and plans people have agreed in advance, costs far less than recovering after the fact.

Understanding climate risk
Climate risk isn’t the same for everyone. It depends on where you farm, what you grow and what you can fall back on. We turn climate science into clear, local explanations people can plan with.

Investment in resilience
Adaptation needs money as well as knowledge. We work to bring finance to the communities doing the adapting, and to show funders where it will do the most good.
How we get there
Science
Evidence first, from the field and from research.
Technology
Simple tools that work where people farm.
Policy
Local knowledge carried to the people who set the rules.
Finance
Money that reaches the work of adapting.
Always with the rights of local communities at the centre, and always with partners.
